Scaling Your Workforce To Become More Efficient

It’s easy to find oneself bogged down with way too many tasks at once. I’ve been there myself too many times and one might think I had already learned my lesson and found a fix to this conundrum, but no. It still happens.

“I can do it alone.” It’s a thought that comes into our minds whenever we start working on something. The problem is plenty of times this is wrong and we are severely overestimating our capabilities. Eventually, we would have to find someone who can help us out. Share the burden.

Matthew Yahes, CEO of Extend Your Team, has a process that he uses to make his company more efficient. First, he identifies the tasks that an employee should and shouldn’t be doing. Next, for those tasks that the employee shouldn’t be doing, he hires people. This process continues with each hire and every cycle, the people of his workforce become more and more efficient simply because they get to focus on tasks that actually matter for their position.

It’s a simple idea, but it’s not something that most people would think of doing, especially when they’re only just starting out with their work. Everyone wants to show to their bosses and workmates that they are super capable and that they are doing a great job. So much that they end up pushing themselves too hard and become less productive than desired.

The next time you find yourself drowning at work, think about reorganizing the way Matt does it. Perhaps that way, you’d find yourself being able to breathe a little better as you work on more important things.
